Short film on The Pigeon Photographer earns an Emmy

A big wing-slap on the back for film maker and producer Steve Shaffer for winning an Emmy this past weekend at the Ohio Valley Emmy Awards show.

Shaffer Emmy Pigeon PhotographerSteve, who works for Kentucky Educational Television (KET), shot and produced this fun video about me in 2016. It was broadcast as a 9-minute segment in their very popular Kentucky Life show. I'm so very happy for Steve for being recognized for his talent and hard work. He certainly had his work cut out for him when he turned the camera my way! Steve began filming in 2015 and followed me through the breeding season and into the summer of 2016. Remarkably, he filmed me banding a baby (Kastle 1691) who has turned out to be a fantastic racer, winning two first places as an old bird. Maybe Steve is a good luck charm!

"Thanks for the kind words everybody! No awards are possible without a good story and David Stephenson aka: "The Pigeon Photographer" is a really good story, I just needed to get out of the way enough and the story will almost tell itself." ~ Steve Shaffer
